Digitization of the Education system

, , ,

The digitization of the education system in our college has brought many influences on my academic experience. I have encountered both positive and negative impacts of digitization for my study. The digitization of education has changed teaching and learning, research, and governance. Computer-assisted learning has enhanced the quality of education as teachers can quickly access reference materials easily when needed (Bejinaru, 2019). Therefore teachers easily engage learners in surveying various resources that support innovativeness. The introduction of distance learning has increased the massive enrolment of online courses. Furthermore, record-keeping and management technology have enhanced high transparency and accounting in the finance office.

Technological advancements and innovations have increased data processing speed as computers and the internet create an interactive learning environment. Therefore lectures and students can download and upload learning academic content in the comfort of their learning environment. Furthermore, using an interactive whiteboard in a classroom enables lecturers to deliver practical computer lessons in an interactive way that stimulates learners’ understanding. The application of a learning management system in an institution has enhanced the easy accessibility of learning/ teaching resources from any location; therefore, both teachers and learners can get access to supportive tools for their learning (Reinartz et al., 2019). Automating the examination system has enhanced transparency and elimination of examination irregularities, as all students can be controlled and monitored during the examination. Furthermore, online objective examination speed up the generation and declaration of examination results.

Digitization of the education system has also brought negative impacts, as the continued use of a computer or any other screen can be addictive, affecting students’ performance. Furthermore, learners can concentrate on computing fun and need to pay attention to classroom work (Khan et al., 2020). The cost associated with digitization makes it possible for other students to access modern technology. The reliability of online resources has reduced learners’ interest in performing extensive research in their academics as internet sources provide learners with direct answers.

Evaluation of effectiveness

If I am asked to evaluate the effectiveness of a police department in a medium size community, I will first consider its policies, missions, procedures, and goals. After that, I will evaluate how their innovations achieve their goals and how their leaders behave and apply their leadership skills in managing their juniors. The most effective approach I would use in evaluating the police department is a resource-based approach (Engel et al., 2020). The resource-based approach is the best when accessing police departments and military police since all participants have similar jobs. The resources that I will evaluate in this case are police scanners and automobile communication devices.
